A Sporty Weekend

Wokay this is very late! Just some random shots from sports events that I dropped in to 'paat poh' over the Formula One weekend last week.

22nd March 2008
Nike This is Love

An event open only to ladies (participating). These shots are NOT representative on how well it was done. 2,500 female fitness freaks turned up for a shot at working out and pampering themselves while also being entertained by singer Che'nelle. The first round was ladies trying their hand at a range of events instructed by trainers - pole dancing, rock climbing, futsal and kickboxing. The line for the Nintendo Wii ladies boxing game was quite long as well. Also there was a section where the girls had make-up applied to them by professionals. Later the entire group adjourned for a mass kick boxing and aerobics workout culminating in the session by Che'nelle. Very well done event. I didn't know there were so many women with abs in this country...

The main stage for the mass workout. I accidental stumbled on it as I was looking for food (it was kept hidden until the first part of the program was finished)

The pole dancing section - not as easy as it looks.

23rd March 2008
CHARM Cheer Leading Championships
10am Cineleisure, Damansara Perdana

Organised by former STAR journalist the Bevster, Beverly Hon who now runs this full time. Anyone want to hire them just drop me a note or I'll update with their contact later.

I dind't have time to stick around for the proper competition to start because I had to head out to the...

Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix
3pm, Sepang International Circuit

The F1 drivers take the standard spin around the tracks in sentimental favourites.

Was praying for rain to catch some drama but have to credit SIC, this year's bomoh power ler. Sun shine the whole time.

Hill C2 section.

The broadcast chopper shoots the grandstand crowd.

The Stadium Super Sunday EPL viewing party, Elephant Walk, Sunway Lagoon 7pm.

The pics turned out crap but it was essentially the same set up. This time around they had a Mr Potato stand selling crisps which probably added to a lot more Carlsberg being downed before the game started. Got to see Viv Anderson, Ray Parlour, Phil Babb (yeah...) and Nigel Spackman (almost unrecognisable!).
