First off - i didn't register to vote. Kept putting it off until it was too late. Yes I'm all that and worse. A hypocrite, a wanker, a communist, whatever la... Lets move on:
So, it finally happens. Old Samy is finally booted out. Penang is going with the DAP and Sharizat lost to Anwar's cute 27 year old daughter. What else is in store?
It looks like the message has more than just been sent. And here's what I want to say. Nothing deep, just the views of a beer guzzling, comic reading, outdoor loving jock. Here goes:
I just got back from a pub in Damansara. The results are coming in. Samy's loss is flashing on the TV screens. the obvious opposition wins are popping up every so often. In the front of the pub the group of lawyers are cheering, shouting and jumping around as if their fav English Premier League team is kicking the crap out of some sodding over-patronaged London club. At the opposite end of the pub, at the back sits a group of remisers. They are quiet. Their smiles are controlled and measured when the rest of the pub bursts out in obvious rapture at opposition wins on TV. Theirs are a stark contrast to the jumping celebrations of the Malaysian lawyers in the front of the pub.
Interesting eh? Economic pragmatism over emotion perhaps?
I am a Neanderthal. I don't claim to understand the inner workings of politics. If the Opposition kick ass than kudos dudes, you've done your job. And at the rate you're at, more than what they even expected. I've got to admit though, Anwar gives me the heebie jeebies not because of his rep as an arse bandit but more because of what he's actually done to make this country a better place instead of skulking around the shadows trying to get back into power.
Anyway I just hope a stronger Opposition will remember that the People voted them in and that they never, ever forget that fact. If they get on their high horse and become self righteous wankers than we're in for a roller coaster ride.
